The meeting was called to order at 1:50 p.n., in the Mayor's office,
217 N. ~ain Street, Santa Ana, California. Roll call was A~Rwered by
Councilmen Ja~es Gilmore, Walter B~ooks, Davis Burk, WaAe Kerrin, Tc~
McMichael, aed l~yor ~a~-~-~ H. Harvey. C~Ancil~an J. Ogden M~rkel was
absent. Also present was City Manager Carl J. Thornton.
CITY'S REPORT The Clerk of the Council reported
that the Olxler of AdJoux-~aent
frc~ the Adjourned Regular Meetin~
of July 11, 1~6, was posted as
required by law and Certificate of Posting was on file in the office of
the Clerk.
BUDGET ST~JD¥ SESSION It was move~ by Councilman Brooks,
seconde~ by Councilman Burk and
carried, that the a~ount allocated
to 51-265 - Recreation and Parks -
Northeast Park No. 1, in the budget submitted by the City Manager, is
reduced by $1~0,000 a~d the s~a a~kled to 5~-~1 - Public Works Depar~aent -
~elect Street constructi~a, for develc~aent of the First and Main Street
intersections to ult'-ate width; and, the City Manager is directed to ~ake
rec~aendations in the future if necessary relative to borrowi~ any
additional funds that ~ay be needed for this purpose fron 27 - Parking

At ~:25 p.m. a five ~inute recess
was declared. The Council
reconvened at ~:30 p.m. with same
Council me~bers present.
BUDGET It was moved by C~ncil~an McMichael,
seconded by Councilman Gilmore
carried, that the City ~anager give
consideration be2ween this ~eeting
and the one when the budget is adopted of the possibility of obtaining
funds for First Street widem~n~_ frc~ sone source other than indicated in
the preceding motion; an~ that the City Manager _~ke recc~mendations
relative to priorities of widening First Street intersections.
