CALIFORNIA October 19, 1967 The meeting was called to order at 7~00 P.M in the Council Ch~nbers, 217 North Main Street with the following CounciLmen present: Wade Herrin, Walter Brooks~ James E. Carlson, Lorin Griset~ J. Ogden Markel, Thomas W. Thurman, and Mayor Tom McMichael. There were no CounciLmen absent. Also present were City Manager Carl J. Thornton, City Attorney William L. Mock, Planning Director Van Stevens, Clerk of the Council Doris M. Brown, and Basil Andrews, Traffic Engineer representing the Director of Public Works. It was noted that the Regular Meeting of October 16, 1967, was adjourned to this time and pIace, with notice posted and mailed as required by law, and evidence on file. Following the Flag Salute, the Invocation was delivered by Father John Wehmhoefer, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. MINUTES APPROVAL On motion of CounciLman Griset~ seconded by Councilman Herrin and carried, the City C~mcil approved minutes of the following meetings~ Regular Meeting of October 2, 1967; Adjourned Regular Meeting of October 11, 1967; and Regular Meeting of October 16, 1967. FAIRVIEW IMPROVEMENTS On motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Councilman Markel and carried, the City Council ordered filed report of bids received for Project 200 (II), Fairview Street~ Alton to Segerstrom; awarded contract to Industrial Contracting Company at unit prices; and rejected all other bids. BID CALLS Herrin and carried: The following bid calls were approved for opening November 14 on motion of Councilman Griset, seconded by Councilman 7 Mobile Radio Units for Public Works; Spec. 654-12 ~ Servlce Bodies for Trucks; Spec. 6hl-28 Fire Alarm Components; Spec. 6~1-109 READING WAIVED The full reading of ordinances and resolutions listed on the public agenda was waived on motion of Councilman Brooks, seconded by Co~unciLman Thurman and unanimously carried. A similar citation was presented te the City Manager by Mr. William Wemke. Responding, Mayor McYaichael acknowledged the outstanding effort of the Chamber of Commerce, noted also the important work of other business associations in the community, mud expressed the hope that all of the groups cOUld Join together ia the future in order te make a far greater City of Santa A~a.
