RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and
the Clerk of the Council to renew the service agreement with Padcom,
Inc., for maintenance and system upgrades to the Police Department's
wireless network in an amount not to exceed $35,000.
~ISCUSSION
In November 2001 the Police Department entered into an agreement with
Padcom Inc, to provide equipment and services for the implementation of
the Department's wireless network system. This system provides wireless
connectivity between the Police Department databases, communication
center and field operations personnel. In order to keep these components
in good working condition it is necessary to renew the one-year service
~greement. The Padcom system is proprietary and can only be serviced by
Padcom, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2004/05 Police Department Computer
Services Maintenance & Repair Account (account no. 11-338-6291).
