RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and
the Clerk of the Council to renew the service agreement with Aramark
Correctional Services, Inc., to provide inmate food and commissary
~rvices for the Santa Ana Police Department Jail in an amount not to
~eed $945,030.
DISCUSSION
%n January 2002, Council approved a three-year agreement with Aramark
Correctional Services, Inc., for food services at the Santa Ana Jail.
This food service includes daily meals for all inmates, inmate commissary
service, and operation of the staff cafeteria in the Police
Administration Building. Under the terms of the agreement the price per
meal may be adjusted annually in relation to the cost of living
standards. With the proposed renewal, the cost per meal will increase
from $1.79 to $1.88 per meal.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for the first five months of the agreement is budgeted and
available in the Santa A_na Jail Contractual Services Account (account no.
11-349-6291), and funding for the remainder of the agreement will be
included in the future budget year. The payment for commissary service
will be paid from the Inmate Commissary Trust Fund (account no. 98-01-
3611-349), which is derived from inmate deposits.
