CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDED ACTION Award a contract to Williams & Maher, Inc. for relamping of soccer field lights in an annual amount not to exceed $40,000. . DISCUSSION The Dan Young Soccer Complex was constructed at centennial Park in 1994. The 198 metal halide lamps used for illuminating the soccer fields have not been completely replaced since the lighting system was installed. Approximately 50 percent of the existing lamps no longer illuminate, and the remaining lamps have exceeded their expected life span. The fields are used by the Santa Ana Adult Soccer Leagues (SASA) and the Santa Ana Youth Soccer United leagues (SAYSU). The fields are used seven days per week, seven months per year. Replacement of the lamps will restore the original design light levels to the fields. The notice inviting bids was advertised on March 10-11, 2004, and bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and the bids received is as follows: 7 Invitations For Bid mailed 3 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors 1 Bid received from a Santa Ana vendor The bid from Williams & Maher, Inc. was received, opened on March 22, 2004, evaluated, and found to be responsive to the specification. . During lamp replacement, the contractor will also inspect ballasts, capacitors, and lenses and replace them as needed.
