RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a contract to Electro Tech's for the purchase of traffic signal
LED lamps for left hand turn pockets in the amount of $33,873.91.
8 DISCUSSION
The California Energy Commission (CEC) recently adopted energy
efficiency standards that require the power consumption of all traffic
signal lamps to be equal to or less than 25 watts. Lamps currently used
in the left hand turn pockets have a power consumption of 150 watts.
The new LED lamps have a power consumption of 15 watts. The City will
reduce energy costs by an estimated $20,000 per year, after the new LED
lamps are installed.
The notice inviting bids was advertised on April 14-15, 2004, and bids
were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is
as follows.

The bid received from Electro Tech's is responsive to the specification.
