HomeMy WebLinkAbout13B - COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS 8 8 8 CITY OF SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON MAIN STREET DEVELOPMENT MINUTES April 21, 2004 CALL TO ORDER The meeting convened at 5:40 p.m. in City Hall, Room 831, 20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California. ATTENDANCE City Council Committee members present: Council member Lisa Bist and Councilmember Jose Solorio. Staff members present: Community Development Agency Executive Director John P. Reekstin, Chief Assistant City Attorney Ben Kaufman, Senior Planner Sergio Klotz, Community Preservation Manager Bruce Dunams and Redevelopment Assistant Danell Mercado. Community members present: None AGENDA ITEMS 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - March 17,2004 Action: The minutes were approved 2:0 2. PROPOSED CODE ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS Bruce Dunams reported that Notices of Violation continue to be issued in the Downtown and South Main areas. A letter has been sent to Ricci Zukkerman, owner of the Otis Building informing her that the city has taken all steps possible regarding relocation of the bus stop. The next step will be to enforce the repair of awnings and painting of the building. The South Main business installing illegal flags and banners along the bike trail has been cited. 138-1 3. O.C. MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY This item was continued to the next meeting. 4. PROJECT UPDATES a) SWC First and Main Streets - Caribou has hired Joe Musil to design a roof top sign for the building. Caribou will be submitting for a sign variance. Caribou plans to open the restaurant by summer. Sergio Klotz will follow up with Bob St. Paul on the permit status for the project and inform the committee. b) Citv Place West - The Environmental document is being finalized. The project is scheduled to go to Planning Commission in June and City Council in July. c) YMCA - Staff continues to work with developers on various proposals for the building. Maintenance of the building is progressing. d) Court of Appeals - No update. e) 4th Street Pushcart Status - Matt Lamb will be meeting with Jose Ortiz for final design approval before going into production. Once this is achieved, staff will pursue consensus on uniforms and operations. f) Sav-On Lofts - Cal State Fullerton will be working with the owner of the units after completion of the lofts, to hopefully secure the units as housing for CSUF faculty. The OCCCA wall adjacent to the building will be sandblasted the week of April 26. g) Sycamore Garaae Landscapina - Caribou has agreed to replace the landscaping at the entry to the parking lot on Broadway adjacent to the structure. h) Banners - South Main - Danell Mercado reported that there are a total of 126 poles between First and Warner. The Merchants Association uses 76 poles every December for Christmas decorations. The cost to design, manufacture and install 76 banners is $12,540. Danell will put the Merchants in contact with banner vendor to discuss design concept. 5.
