RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing funds in the amount of
~455,625 in the Select Street Construction Fund (account no. 59-01-5342-
WS) and appropriating $455,625 to the Select Street Construction Fund
(account no. 59-551-6631, project no. 1768) for the Flower Street Bike
Trail project.
DISCUSSION
The Flower Street Bike Trail is a critical component of the City of
Santa Ana Bikeway Master Plan and the Orange County Commuter Bikeway
Strategic Plan. In June 2000, the City Council authorized staff to
submi t the Flower Street Bike Trail Gap Closure proj ect for funding
consideration through the Transportation Enhancement Activity (TEA)
Program. This federally funded program provides funding assistance for
transportation related aesthetic enhancements and capital improvement
projects that enhance the quality-of-life in and around transportation
facilities. The project closes the gap between the existing Flower
Street Bike Trail and the recently constructed Alton / Maple Bike Trail
(Exhibit 1).
The City has received federal TEA grant funds in the amount of $455,625.
In order to recognize these funds, an appropriation adjustment is
necessary. The project is scheduled to be completed in late 2005.

Funds in the amount of $455,625 will be recognized in the Select Street
