Hughes Supply, Inc. for the purchase of tools for a
upon the u.S. Communities contract with Hughes
annual amount not to exceed $15,000.
On February 2, 2004, the City Council awarded a contract for the
purchase of a new fire pumper. The new pumper replaces a 1981 model,
and has an anticipated delivery of October 2004. In order to be placed
into service, the pumper requires various types and sizes of tools to
meet current inventory standards. Such items needed include hammers,
wrenches, pI iers, and channel locks. Therefore, the purchase of new
hand tools is necessary in order for the apparatus to be fully
operational.
u.S. Communities recently awarded a contract for such tools with Hughes
Supply, Inc. The City Council adopted Ordinance No. NS-2312
authorizing the City to purchase against contracts with other
government agencies utilizing a competitive bid process. The
recommended vendor for the purchase of hand tools was awarded a
contract as a result of open, competitive bidding, and will provide
steep discounts from list price and meets the City's requirements.
