The current traffic signal control system is not flexible in responding to changing traffic patterns in real-time and it requires staff to adjust traffic signal timing manually to facilitate traffic movements. In anticipation of future growth and to meet current needs, the proposed project provides for an adaptive traffic signal control system that can adjust traffic signal timing automatically. In order to implement the new system, the existing traffic signals, controllers, communication infrastructure, and detection equipment will be upgraded.
