On July 15, 2002, the City Council awarded a not-to-exceed $150,000
contract to Naranjo Landscape to provide annual weed and debris abatement
services throughout the City. The contract terms allow for three one-
year extensions. Due to rising fuel and labor costs, the Council
approved an amendment on August 4, 2003, which increased the handwork and
haul-off bid item prices, and set the not-to-exceed amount at $165,000.
In pursuing the City's goal of providing aesthetically pleasing
neighborhoods, demand for abatement services by City departments has
increased. The amount of this increase is estimated at 6% or $10,000.
Since Naranjo Landscape has successfully provided these services as
specified by the contract, and has agreed to continue under the current
terms and conditions, the City Council is requested to approve the second
one-year extension for an amount not to exceed $175,000.
