RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an amended agreement with Chevron USA to
increase the aggregate limit by $7,000 for the purchase of fuel, in an
annual amount not to exceed $17,000.
8rSCUSSION
The Police Department utilizes Chevron USA gas stations to fuel their
motorcycle units with "premium" gasoline which is not available from the
City's Fleet Services Division. Premium gasoline is required for the
motorcycle fleet to maximize their efficiency and longevity. In addition,
Police Officers who use City vehicles to conduct investigations outside of
the City utilize Chevron USA gas stations to refuel. Currently, the
Police Department spends approximately $1,200 per month to fuel police
motorcycles and $350 per month for police vehicles. During the first six
months of FY 2003/04 the Department has paid Chevron USA approximately
$8,000. It. is estimated that additional payments to Chevron USA during
the balance of this fiscal year will be $~,OOO for the Police Department.
FISCAL IMPACT

City Equipment Account (account no. 011-333-6511).
