RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Pulmonary Consultants &
Primary Care Physicians Medical Group Inc. to perform annual Hazardous
8aterial medical examinations in an amount not to exceed $20,000 per year
or a three-year agreement beginning July 1, 2004 with one, two-year
renewal option.
DISCUSSION
Under Title 8, Section 5144 of the CAL-OSHA Reparatory Protection
Regulation, members of the Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Response
Team are required to undergo an examination to determine fitness for duty.
The physical examination includes, but is not limited to, a detailed
medical history questionnaire, screening audiometry, chest X-ray, pulmonary
function test, and cancer screening.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in FY 2004/2005 in the Fire Department's Fire
Suppression Other Contractual Services account (account no. 11-323-6291).
