RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a contract to Fitness Direct, Inc. for the purchase and delivery
of fitness equipment in an amount not to exceed $10,000.
DISCUSSION
The Fire Department has established a physical fitness program for
agency personnel. The installation of physical fitness equipment at
fire stations encourages firefighters to exercise regularly for optimum
performance. The acquisition will replace three existing 17-year-old
irreparable StairMaster machines in three stations and provide a new
leg extension/leg curl machine for Station No.5.
The notice inviting bids was advertised on May 19 and 21,
bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations

Fitness Equipment
The bid received from Fitness Direct, Inc. is responsive to the
specification. To allow for unanticipated requirements, an additional
contingency amount has been included in the award amount.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in Fire Training Operating Materials and Supplies
account (account no. 11-325-6391).
