HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-07-1972MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA April 7, 1972 The meeting was called to order at 5:00 P.M., in the Mayor's Office, Room $03, City Hall, 217 North Main Street, with the following Councilmen present: Ray Villa, Vernon S. Evans, Wade Herrin, Harry K. Yamamoto, Jerry M. Patterson, J. Ogden Markel and Mayor Lorin Griset. Also present were City Manager Carl J. Thornton, City Attorney James A. Withers, Clerk of the Council Florence I. Malone, and Sandi Mosley of The Register newspaper. Evidence of notice of the meeting was on file with the Clerk. EXECUTIVE SESSION the appointment of a City Manager. vote: It was moved by Councilman Patterson, seconded by. Councilman Herrin to adjourn to executive session to consider The motion failed on the following roll call AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Griset, Yamamoto, Patterson Villa, Evans, Herrin, Markel None During the discussion of the motion, Mrs. Janice Boer, 912 N. Lowell Street, stated that the purpose of the Brown Act was to assure the public of adequate Notice of the time and place of Council meetings; that, in her opinion, the Brown Act does not provide the broad latitude of discussing methods of appointment; that it only allows for the hiring and firing of personnel. It was Unanimofisly a~reed' by'all members of Council to call a Special Meeting for Wednesday, April 12, 1972, at 4:00 P.M., in the Mayor% Office, 217 North Main Street and the Clerk was instructed by the Mayor to prepare and deliver proper notice.
