RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a contract to Arch Wireless for paging services based on the Los
Angeles Metro Public Purchasing Agents Cooperative Agreement, which was
established with the City of Manhattan Beach, for a one-year period, in
the annual amount not to exceed $45,000.
DISCUSSION
The City of Santa Ana utilizes paging services for field personnel, and
for staff required to respond in immediate or emergency situations.
The two types of paging services used are digital display and
alphanumeric, with various options that include local, statewide, and
nationwide coverage. Additional enhanced features such as group call
and voice mail are available as necessary. The pagers have unlimited
message capability and are provided as part of the contract for
services.
The current contract for paging services is scheduled to expire on
September 30, 2004. Staff is currently preparing bid specifications
that will identify various departmental requirements for paging
services. In order to allow for continuous paging services, staff
recommends utilizing the Los Angeles Metro Public Purchasing Agents
Cooperative Agreement which was established with the City of Manhattan
Beach. The contract was awarded based upon negotiated discount pricing
and provides the most favorable pricing and terms at this time.
