RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a contract to Stratus Technologies for Stratus ftServer System
maintenance in an annual amount not to exceed $10,272.
DISCUSSION
The Santa Ana Fire Department's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system
utilizes a fully fault-tolerant database server system to enable the
existing software to run efficiently and maintain application
stability. On March 3, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract to
Stratus Technologies for the purchase of a Stratus ftServer System and
one year of maintenance. Stratus Technologies is the sole proprietor
of the Stratus ftServer System and, on a 24-hour per day, seven days
per week basis, is the only service provider offering the support
necessary to ensure continuous support of the Fire Department's
operations. Therefore, staff recommends awarding a contract to Stratus
Technologies for support service and maintenance.
