RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare, and authorize the City Manager and
Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with JTB Supply Co, Inc. as
a sole source supplier in an amount not to exceed $300,000 for the
purchase of traffic signal equipment, including repairs and support of
traffic signal control system.
DISCUSSION
The City's traffic signal control system, manufactured by US Traffic
Inc., operates all traffic signals in the City. This system also
facilitates the graphic display of traffic congestion on city streets in
the City's Traffic Management Center.
The City needs to purchase traffic signal cabinet assemblies as part of
the traffic signal projects funded by Measure M, and whenever any of
them are damaged. The City can save 20% of the cost by purchasing the
equipment from JTB Supply Co, Inc., a product distributor for US Traffic
Inc. This contract will allow the City to purchase the necessary
equipment, to obtain the system support, and to have the signal
equipment repaired as needed to maintain the existing systems during the
contract period.
