RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an amended agreement with General Learning
Climates, Inc. to include additional consulting and training services in
an amount not to exceed $40,000.
DISCUSSION
The Police Department entered into an agreement with General Learning
Climates, Inc. (GLC) to assist the department with team building,
organizational development and goal setting sessions for managers and
staff. In addition, GLC provides evaluations of the department's Community
Oriented Policing strategies. During the course of this review, we have
identified several ini tiati ves for improvement. These ini tiati ves will
create an opportunity to effectuate departmental improvements and address
key issues related to enhancing operational effectiveness. Staff
recommends amending the current agreement to include services that will
further strengthen the department's organizational structure by enhancing
quality implementation, internal systems, and communications.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Police Department's Office of the Chief
Contractual Services Account (account no. 011-331-6291).
