RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the
Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Simplex/Grinnell, LP,
for the annual maintenance and support of the Police Department card
access control system in an amount not to exceed $15,000.
DISCUSSION
The Police Department currently uses the card access control system as a
part of the controlled entry into the Police Administration Building, Jail
facili ty and a portion of City Hall. This agreement provides for the
maintenance and support needed for this system. Simplex/Grinnell, LP, is
uniquely qualified to provide these services as they designed and
implemented the system.
Council originally approved the agreement with Simplex/Grinnell at the
August 5, 2003 meeting. This agreement would extend the maintenance and
support for an additional one-year period.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Police Department's Computer Systems Other
Contractual Services account (account no. 011-338-6291).
