OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
February 16, 1974
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
was convened by Mayor Patterson at 8:05 A.M., in Room 831 of
City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza, proper Notice and posting
having been accomplished, with affidavits on file in the
office of the Clerk of the Council. The following Councilmen
were present: J. Ogden Markel, John Garthe, Harry K. Yamamoto,
James Ward, Lorin Griset and Mayor Jerry M. Patterson. Council-
man Vernon S. Evans was absent.
The following members of staff were also present: City Manager
Bruce C. Spragg, Assistant Director of Public Works John
Stevens, Traffic Engineer Joseph Foust and Clerk of the Council
Florence I. Malone. Lynn O'Dell of the Register and Wayne
Rash of the Central County Gazette were also present.
PROPOSED MASS Mayor Patterson announced
TRANSIT CORRIDOR that the purpose of the
meeting was to consider
and determine the City's
recommendation to the Orange County Transit District relative
to the proposed mass transit multi-modal corridor, and that
the Transit District Board would be holding its public hearing
on the matter on March 4, 1974.
The Assistant Director of Public Works distributed copies of
his report dated February 15, 1974, transmitting the recommenda-
tion of the City's Transportation Advisory Committee and copies
of the Committee's Resolution No. 74-1 supporting Orange County
Transit District Plan T2E, as modified by the District staff.
Using a map, Mr. Stevens outlined Plan T2E, modified, explain-
ing that the modification added two new corridors, one running
north and south along Beach Boulevard, from the coast to the
Pacific Electric right-of-way and the other running east and
west along Katella, between the Pacific Electric right-of-way
and the Newport Freeway.
Council consensus was to accept the recommendation of the
Transportation Advisory Committee, to adopt a Resolution
supporting Plan T2E, modified, and to forward requests to all
Orange County cities urging them to give their support to the
same plan.
RESOLUTION 74-21 A RESOLUTION OF THE
TRANSPORTATION CORRIDOR CITY COUNCIL OF THE
PLAN T2E, MODIFIED CITY OF SANTA ANA GIVING
SUPPORT TO THE TRANSPORTA-
TION CORRIDOR PLAN T2E, AS MODIFIED, was unanimously adopted
on motion of Councilman Garthe, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto.
The resolution included a provision for its transmittal to
all Orange County cities.
Councilman Garthe departed the meeting at 9:11 A.M.

Councilman Ward suggested, and Council concurred, that Mayor
Patterson or his delegate make a presentation in support of
the Council's resolution 74-21 at the public hearing of the
Orange County Transit District on March 4, 1974.
