RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $75,803 in revenues
awarded to the City of Santa Ana on behalf of the Santa Ana W/O/R/K
Center by the County of Orange Housing and Community Services Agency.
2. Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager
and the Clerk of the Council to execute an Amendment to the Agreement
with the County of Orange to administer Phase II of the National
Emergency Grant.
DISCUSSION
On February 19, 2004, the County of Orange, on behalf of the Orange County
Workforce Investment Board, approved a National Emergency Grant (NEG) Cost
Reimbursement grant to the Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center for $192,281. The
$192,281 was the first of several allocations that, when fully funded,
will total $470,000. The County of Orange has now issued an amendment to
the NEG Grant for $75,803 and to extend the term of the contract through
September 30, 2005.
This amendment will allow the W/O/R/K Center to continue to provide
services to employees of the technology industry who are affected by
layoffs and downsizing. Services include job search activities,
counseling, assessment, training and supporti ve services. Staff
anticipates serving an additional 25 participants in the technology
industry.
