OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
April 29, 1975
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Santa Aha
was convened by Mayor John Garthe at S:0S P.M., in Room 831
City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza. The Clerk of the Council
reported that proper notice had been mailed and posted, with
affidavits on file. The following Councilmen responded to
roll call: Harry K. Yamamoto, Vernon S. Evans, James E.
Ward, David L. Brandt, and Mayor John Garthe. Councilman
David F. Ortiz arrived at 5:15 P.M., and Councilman Gordon
Bricken arrived at 6:07 P.M. Also prpsent were City Manager
Bruce C. Spragg, Acting City Attorney Charles Liberto, Direc-
tor of Public Works Ronald Wolford, Police Chief Raymond
Davis; Tom Blackman, representing Great Western Reclamation
Company; Steven Smith, reporter for the "Los Angeles Times";
and Clerk of the Council Florence I. Malone.

Mayor Garthe declared
a recess at 5:10 P.M.
to consider legal
matters pertaining
Responding to a question from Mr. Smith, the Acting City
Attorney stated that an Executive Session is in order for
Council to receive advice and information in confidence
without dissemination to the public, which is actually in
the public's best interest, if the strike can be resolved.
Mr. Smith was provided a copy of the City Manager's Trash
Strike Status Report dated April 28, 1975, and Mr. Smith
was excused as the Council proceeded with the Executive
Session. CA 11.1
ADJOURNMENT The meeting reconvened
at 6:15 P.M. with all
Councilmen present,
and was immediately
adjourned on the unanimously approved motion of Councilman
Ward, seconded by Councilman Yamamoto.
