MINUTES
HOUSING A UTHORITY OF THE CITY
OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
March 19, 1973
The Regular Meeting of the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana
was called to order by Chairman Jerry M. Patterson at 2:05 P. M., in
the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana. The follow-
ing members of the Authority responded to the roll call:
Ray Villa
Wade Herrin
Lorin Griset
Harry K. Yamamoto
Jerry M. Patterson
Commissioner Vernon S. Evans arrived at 2:10 P. M.

The full reading of the
Minutes of the Regular
Meeting of February 20, 1973, was waived and the Minutes were
unanimously approved as mailed on motion of Commissioner Herrin,
seconded by Commissioner Yamamoto.
MINUTES
The Secretary requested
Manuel Rede to orally
report on the status
of the program. Mr. Rede, Assistant to the City Manager for
Community Relations, stated that the Federal Department of Housing
and Urban Development had advised that a check amounting to approx-
imately $30,000.00 is in the mail for deposit in the bank designated
by the Authority to cover the Program expenses for the next three
months and that amount represents the first payment to be received.
REPORT OF SECRETARY
PRO TEM
Commissioner Yamamoto inquired as to what assurances there were
that additional quarters funding would be forthcoming. Mr. Rede
responded that it is expected the funds will be picked up in a special
revenue sharing fund under community development.
Mr. Rede further stated that 16 months' leases were being proposed to
prospective landlords and that the necessary funds have been allocated
by HUD for the Program.

Commissioner Evans arrived
at 2:10P.M., and took his
place on the platform.

Commissioner Herrin
expressed his reluctance
to enter into any lease
agreements without positive assurance of continued funding.
REPORT OF SECRETARY
PRO TEM (continued)
Chairman Patterson stated that it is not the City's intent to continue
to obligate the Housing Authority unless it is funded; that if there is
no money, leases will not be signed, if there is, 'they will be signed.
Commis,sioner Villa
inquired as to the status
of the employment of a Housing Coordinator. The Secretary stated
that interviews for the position were scheduled for Friday, March 23,

ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned
at 2:20P.M., on the
unanimously approved motion of Commissioner Griset, seconded by
Commissioner Herrin.
