MINUTES HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA July l5, 1974 The Regular Meeting of the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana was called to order at 2:l5 P.M., by Chairman Harry K. Yamamoto, in the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana. The following members of the Authority responded to the roll call: Present Absent John Garthe Jerry M. Patterson James E. Ward Vernon S. Evans Lorin Griset Harry K. Yamamoto, J. Ogden Markel / Chairman The following persons were also present: Manuel Rede, Executive Director-Secretary James A. Withers, Attorney for the Authority Bruce C. Spragg, City Manager Florence I. Malone, Recording Secretary Representatives of the Press MINUTES The full reading of the Minutes of the Annual Meeting of July l, 1974, mailed, on the unanimously seconded by Commissioner Evans. was waived and they were approved as carried motion of Commissioner Ward, BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS Nothing to report. Mr. Rede, Director, stated that on Thursday, July ll, 1974, he attended the Housing Urban Development (HUD) workshop regarding the new Housing Assistance Payments Program, which will replace the Section 23- Leased Housing Program; and that during the week of August 5, 1974, he planned to attend a training session for Housing Authorities regarding application procedures. REPORT OF DIRECTOR He further stated that on August l2, 1974, the Authority should receive a letter confirming the dates for submission of the applications; that September 9, 1974, is the expected date for the Housing Authority to submit applications to HUD for the Housing Assistance Payments Program; that HUD will complete their review of the applications by September 30, 1974; and arrange them in order of priority; that the Los Angeles office expects approximately 6,455 units for fiscal year 1974-75; and that approximately 4,300 of those units will be without rehabilitation, and 2,l55 units will be for new construction. Commissioner Yamamoto stated that 2,lOO units for new construction was a very low figure for this entire area and was concerned about construction for our senior citizens. . '~ . . . . . . .
