HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/21/1975 I~ . - . . . . , MINUTES HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA July 21, 1975 The Annual Meeting of the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana was called to order at 2:15 P.M., by Chairman Harry K. Yamamoto, in the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana. The following members of the Authority responded to the roll call: Present Absent David F. Ortiz John Garthe Vernon S. Evans David L. Brandt James E. Ward Harry K. Yamamoto, Go rdon Bricken Chai rman The following persons were also present: Manuel Rede, Executive Director-Secretary Keith L. Gow, City Attorney Bruce C. Spragg, City Manager Florence I. Malone, Recording Secretary Representatives of the Press MINUTES The full reading of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of approved as mailed, on Commissioner Ortiz, June 16, 1975, was waived and they were the unanimously carried (6-0) motion of seconded by Commissioner Ward. BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS REPORT OF DIRECTOR Nothing to report. The Status Report, of the Director, dated July 10,1975, for the Housing Authority Programs was received and Mr. Rede orally reported tha t the number of occupied Section 23 leased housing units is 95; that 70 certificates have been issued under the revised Section 23 Program with a total of 24 tenants placed in housing units by August 1; that the new construction program is progressing with a meeting scheduled for July 23 to allow the developer, Mr. Charles Peters, to present his financial plans for the Senior Citizens Housing Project to members of the management team; and that he has received word the City's Section 8 appli- cation has been approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development for 150 units of existing housing in the amount of $361,740 for administrative and housing subsidy. It was moved by Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Garthe and unanimously carried to receive and file the trial balance for the period ending June 30,1975, for the Revised Section 23 Housing Assistance Payments Program and to receive and file the Post-Closing Balance for the period ending June 30, 1975, for the Housing Authority. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES UNFINISHED BUSINESS Nothing to report. No thing to report. . 8 . . . . , MINUTES HOUSING AUTHORITY - 2- July 21, 1975 NEW BUSINESS Commissioner Yamamoto ANNUAL ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN and Ortiz were nominated for Chai rman of the Authority by Commissioner Garthe and Yamamoto, respectively. Nominations were closed on the unanimously approved motion of Commissioner Evans, seconded by Commissioner Ward. Commissioner Yamamoto was elected Chairman unanimously to serve for the ensuing year. NEW BUSINESS ANNUAL ELECTION OF VICE CHAIRMAN Commissioner Ortiz was nominated for Vice Chairman of the Authority by Commissioner Evans. Nominations were closed on the unanimously approved motion of Com- missioner Evans, seconded by Commissioner Brandt. Commissioner Ortiz was elected Vice Chairman unanimously to serve for the ensuing year.
