HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/06/1985 r- . , . /fY2 MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY MAY 6, 1985 The Meeting was called to order by Chairman Griset at 10:50 P.M. in the Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, City of Santa Ana. After the pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the Invocation given by Chairman Griset, the roll was called: PRESENT ABSENT John Acosta Daniel Griset, Chairman wilson Hart P. Lee Johnson, Vice Chairman Robert Luxembourger patricia McGuigan Dan Young LEASE DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH BERNARD PERLIN FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A RESTAURANT AND LEASE OF THE TEMPLO CALVARIO BUILDING FOR CULTURAL PUPOSES It was moved by Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Acosta that the Agency approve a Lease Development Agreement with Bernard Perlin, Adele Perlin and the Perlin Development and Engineering Corporation Pension Trust. AYES: Acosta, Griset, Hart, Johnson, Luxembourger, McGuigan NOES: None ABSENT: Young SUBLEASE AGREEMENT WITH ORANGE COUNTY PACIFIC SYMPHONY After a lengthy discussion, it was agreed by the Agency Members that the following items should be attached to the Sublease Agreement with the Orange County Pacific Symphony as a statement of intent: 1. The uses proposed for the church structure include the Symphony, chorale and opera organizations, all of which will be affiliated with Santa Ana. 2. A potential for a new, community-oriented Symphony exists. - , . 3. Lessons, scholarships, camps and other institutional instructional capabilities exist with the management network as proposed. 4. A mini-performance and rehearsal center will be available for community groups as well as for sublessees. 5. As a stabilizing factor, the increased population of the site will be apparent from both night and day-time use. 6. A relocation of the Templo Calvario enables the congregation to fulfill its goals. The President of the Orange County Pacific Symphony stated that he did not mind if this list was attached to the Sublease Agreement and that he would do his very best to honor it but that he did object to its being made a condition of the lease. It was moved by Mr. Johnson, seconded by Mr. Acosta that the Agency authorize the sublease of the Templo Calvario building to the Orange County Pacific Symphony for administrative, rehearsal and other related purposes. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Agency, the meeting was adjourned at 11:24 P.M. w Danlel Griset, Chairman 2.
