HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-27-1981MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA April 27, 1981 The meeting was called to order at 3:17 p.m., in Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor Bricken. Councilmembers present were John Acosta, Daniel E. Griset, Patricia A. McGuigan, and Mayor Gordon Bricken. Also present were City Attorney Edward J. Cooper, City Manager A. J. Wilson and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy. Councilmembers R. W. Luxembourger, J. Ogden Markel and Alfred C. Serrato were absent. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES The Mayor stated that the WORKSHOP primary purposes of the session were to identify concerns of the Council which might be formu- lated into a two-year plan of action for the City, and to provide an update for new and old Councilmembers on projects currently underway. The City Manager noted that such a plan would additionally provide a sense of direction to staff in developing projects that would shape the community. Councilmembers then denoted specific items under three major areas of con- cern: City image, Transportation, and Development. These included, but were not limited to: 1) Improve medians, focus on entry points to the City, develop amenities around the Civic Center, confront negative perceptions of the City and develop strategy for eliminating them; 2) finish as many re- development projects as possible, encourage foreign investment, develop promotional attitude, attract "solid" developers, encourage ethnic and colorful business area; and 3) take appropriate action towards completing the Broadway overcrossing, the Orange County Transit District and Amtrak stations, computer signalization, and the Civic Center Drive/Santa Ana Boulevard loop. Councilmembers Serrato and Luxembourger joined the meeting at 4:45 p.m., and 4:54 p.m., respectively. ADJOURNMENT At 4:55 p.m., the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned to 1:00 p.m., May 4, 1981, Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 142 APRIL 27, 1981
