SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
July 20, 1981
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gordon Bricken at 2:07 p.m.
in the City Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza. Coun¢ilmembers
present were Daniel E. Griset, R. W. Luxembourger, J. Ogden Markel,
Patricia A. McGuigan, Alfred Co Serrato, and Mayor Gordon Bricken. Also
present were City Manager A. J. Wilson, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper,
and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy. Councilmember John Acosta joined
the meeting at 2:23 p.m.

of the various functions of the

the Institute provides assistance to foreigners in our Country by teaching
the English language, providing entry-level job placement for new Americans,
providing immigration counseling at an adjusted fee scale, and offering
counseling for families and individuals seeking to adjust to living in
America.

The Mayor opened the public hear-
ing on the proposed FY 1981-82
budget.
The City Manager presented an
overview and update of the proposed budget.
Arla Crandall, 4206 W. Wisteria, presented Council with a petition request-
ing that there be no cutbacks in the Police budget, and that the COP pro-
gram be retained.

denial of Variance Application No. 80-71 to allow light manufacturing, ware-
housing and open storage at 1420 West Fifth Street.
The Senior Planner gave the staff report and recommendations.
The Clerk of the Council reported a written communication from Rudolfo
Montejano, attorney for the applicant.
