HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-20-1982MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA July 20, 1982 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gordon Bricken at 5:44 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza. Councilmembers present were R. W. Luxembourger, J. Ogden Markel. Patricia A. McGuigan, and Mayor Gordon Bricken. Also present were City Manager A. J. Wilson, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper, and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy. Councilmembers John Acosta, Daniel E. Griset, and Alfred C. Serrato were absent. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE INVOCATION Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, an Invocation was given by Mayor Gordon Bricken. SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION 11/2/82 - ORD. NS-1642 - 1ST READING & PUBLICATION OF TITLE 1982 as follows: Following discussion, MOTION was made by Luxembourger, seconded by McGuigan, to approve the recommended actions contained in the Clerk's report dated July 19, 1) Place the following ordinance on first reading and authorize publication of title: ORDINANCE NO. NS-1642 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ORDERING, CALLING, PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE SAID CITY ON NOVEMBER 2, 1982, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY CERTAIN PROPOSALS TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF SAID CITY. 2) Establish the period of July 21 - August 13, 1982, for submission of arguments for or against ballot measure(s); 3) Authorize Councilmembers to file written arguments for or against any ballot measure(s) (300 words); 4) Authorize the City Attorney to prepare an impartial analysis of each ballot measure; and 5) Authorize payment for Spanish translation of election documents at a rate not to exceed 14~ per word.
