PVC pipe is more resistant to these conditions and is used instead of ductile iron pipe, whenever possible. The pipe is purchased through the Central Stores warehouse for distribution to the Public Works Agency. The contract for PVC pipe is designed to provide quality products at significant savings based on quantity pricing. On July 15, 2002, the City Council awarded a contract to Hughes Supply, formerly Marden Susco for a one-year period with provision for three one-year renewals. The vendor has agreed to renew the contracti however, the vendor has requested a 11 percent increase due to increases from the manufacturer as a result of rising costs for petroleum based products. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period, and staff recommends the final renewal of the contract. 228-1 CS JH:J Contract Renewal for Water Resources Pipe (Spec.
