Pete Maddox addressed the Council relative to concerns about parking in
his neighborhood and the need for more patrols to deal with trucks on the
local streets
Carolyn Herr discussed the need for street humps on Victoria and related
a recent incident where a speeding car crashed into her house

• Invited residents to participate in planting trees on June 18th at the
intersection of the Santa Ana River and West McFadden Blvd
• Requested that staff revisit the City's visions and goals which were
established in 1998

• Invited citizens to attend the McFadden Reforestation Project event on
June 18th
• Congratulated Ron Ono in Parks and Recreation Agency for his efforts
on behalf of the City in the community

• Congratulated Joe Fletcher, City Attorney on the occasion of his

• Congratulated Fairhaven Cemetery for the emotional Memorial Day
Celebration
• Noted that the Orange County High School of the Arts season finale
performance was a very successful event
• Invited members of the community to attend the Junteenth Celebration
sponsored by the NAACP at Thornton Park on June 11th,
• Requested Chief Walters to discuss concerns about the upcoming
summer season; particularly with respect to parties with live amplified
music. Chief Walters noted that an ordinance was passed a few years
ago allowing police officers to cite for loud music without a formal
complaint from the public. He encouraged the public to contact the
police immediately regarding loud music. During the summer, a
special team of police officers is designated to respond to these types
of calls.
• Requested Chief Garcia to discuss concerns about the Fourth of July
Fireworks. Chief Garcia responded that there are 77 booths

Mayor Pro Tern Bist
• Noted that she has seen an increase in shopping carts in the City: and
requested staff to review the City of Los Angeles shopping cart
ordinance; she further noted that there is a need to educate residents
regarding the costs related to retrieval of shopping carts.
• Thanked Councilmember Alberta Christy, as the City's representative
on the Sanitation Board, for fighting the increase in sanitation fees,
even though the Sanitation Board approved the rate increase
• Congratulated Beth Burns of the St. Joseph Ballet for all her efforts in
creating this very successful program and noted that Beth was leaving;
she wished her continued success in her future endeavors

• Invited the community to attend the June 18`h event to plant trees at the
intersection of the Santa Ana River and West McFadden
• Reminded parents that during the summer break, chess is a great
summer activity: he encouraged residents to contact the Parks and
Recreation Department for information on the Chess Clubs throughout
the City.
