HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-084 - Grant Award Agreement with the State of California Office of Emergency Services for FY2005 155:090905 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-084 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND/OR THE FIRE CHIEF TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THE FY2005 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE GRANT PROGRAM AND THE METROPOLITAN MEDICAL RESPONSE SYSTEM GRANT PROGRAM BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and declares as follows: A. The California Office of Homeland Security is responsible for implementing the United States Department of Homeland Security, Office of Domestic Preparedness Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) and Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) grant programs. B. UASI provides funds to local emergency first responders to enhance security and overall preparedness to prevent, respond to and recover from acts of terrorism. C. MMRS assists highly populated jurisdictions to develop plans, conduct training and exercises and acquire pharmaceuticals and personal protective equipment to achieve the enhanced capability necessary to respond to a mass casualty event caused by a terrorist act. D. The City of Santa Ana has been awarded funding from the California Office of Homeland Security for the fiscal year 2005 UASI and MMRS Grant Programs in the amount of $8,220,754.00 and $220,764.00, respectively. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager, the Chief of Police and/or the Fire Chief or their designee(s) to execute the grant award agreement with the California Office of Emergency Services in the amount of $8,441,518.00. Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager, the Chief of Police and/or the Fire Chief to execute and submit all documents and take any necessary action, for and on behalf of the City of Santa Ana, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, for the purpose of Resolution No. 2005-084 Page 1 of2 obtaining federal financial assistance provided by the federal Department of Homeland Security and subgranted through the State of California. Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this Resolution.
