Griset at 5:50 p.m., in the Irvine Room of the Bowers Museu~n, 2002 N. Main St. Councilmembers present were John Acosta, Wilson B. Hart, P. Lee Johnson, R. W. Luxembourger, Patricia A. McGuigan, Dan Young, and Mayor Griset. Also present were City Manager Robert C. Bobb, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy, as well as members of the Muse~'s docent group, Judy Fluor-Runels, Ruth Siegle, Litlian Kugler and Ginny Nishigaya, and representatives of Loeb and Loeb. REPORTS A.1. APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT NO. 90 - BLUE-RIBBON PLANNING COMMITTEE MOTION: ; 1) Establish a Blue Ribbon Museum Planning Committee of up to a maximum of ten members with appointments to be made by December 16, 1985; 2) Appoint the following to the c~L~,,ittee: Hector Godinez, Jr. Parker Kennedy Harriet Harris Ruth Siegle Fernando Niebla Judy Fluor-Runels Michael Silvas 3) Instruct the Planning C~mittee to accomplish the following tasks during 1986: Establish goals and objectives for Museum; explore facility expansion plan, pursuant to those it~ns mentioned in the Balen Report; prepare fund raising strategies for high quality acquisitions, exhibitions and facilities; explore marketing and membership strategies; and detemine character and direction for future Museum facilities. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 547 NOVt~MBER 25, 1985 2) Adopt the following resolution: RESOLUTION NO. 85-141 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO ADD NE%g JOB CLASSES TO CLASSIFY AND COMPENSATE ~ NE~IPOSITIONS AND TO DELETE ONE CLASS TITLE FROM THE CITY'S BASIC CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN. 3) Authorize the addition of two new positions of Assistant Museu~n Director and Museum Public Relations Coordinator to the personnel authorized for the operation of Bowers Museum. BOWERS MUSEUM - MURAL PROJECT Paul Apodaca explained the California Artist-in-Residence program and presented a slide show of Emigdio Vasquez' work, the artist under contract for the mural project on the exterior east wall of the main gallery of the Musetra. MOTION: Approve design concept for mural depicting Orange County history to 1936, to be painted on exterior east wall of the main gallery of Bowers Muse~n.
