DISCUSSION On March 6, 2000, the City Council adopted a resolution establishing the Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board (WIB) and appointed 33 members. In accordance with the federal legislation, a majority of the Board and the Board Chair must come from the private sector. The remaining Board seats represent education, non-profit organizations, one-stop mandated partners and local labor organizations. Currently there are four vacancies on the Board consisting of two private sector seats, one labor seat, and an economic development seat. After an extensive recruitment campaign and interview process, the WIB is recommending this candidate for appointment to the Board. The private sector nominee is Philip Campanelli, General Manager of the Embassy Suites Hotel. Mr. Campanelli's resume and nomination form are attached (Exhibit 1).
