OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
OCTOBER 23, 1989
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. in Room 831, City Hall,
20 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor Pro Tem John Acosta. Councilmembers
present were Ron May, Rick Norton, and Miguel A. Pulido. Also present
were City Manager David N. Ream, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk
of the Council Janice C. Guy.
Mayor Dan Young and Councilmembers Daniel E. Griset and Patrlcia A.
McGuigan were absent.
Also present were members of the press and the public.
RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - 6:15 P.M.
CLOSED SESSION
To consider personnel matters pursuant to Government Code Section 54957.
RECONVENED - 7:45 P.M. - All Councilmembers present except Mayor Young,
Councilmembers Griset and McGuigan.
CLOSED SESSION REPORT
Mayor Pro Tem Acosta requested the Clerk of the Council place a Closed
Session for the purpose of considering personnel matters on the November
6, 1989 Agenda; and indicated the City Council would seek an opinion from
the California Attorney General regarding the extent of the Council's
authority as contained in City Charter Sections 410, 701 and 703 with
respect to placing a Council appointee on paid administrative leave.
