municipal corporation of the State of Cali fomi a, ("CITY") and Peggy Magee, a sole
proprietor, ("CONSULTANT").

RECITALS:
I. CITY and CONSULTANT entered into an agreement dated September 3,2000,
("AGREEMENT") by which CONSULTANT agreed to provide dance instruction
classes for children in the Santa Ana Empowerment Zone.
2. The CITY and CONSULTANT wish to renew the AGREEMENT for an
additional one (I) year period from July I, 2001 to June 30, 2002,
WHEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual and respective covenants and promises
contained in the AGREEMENT, and subject to all the terms and conditions of the
AGREEMENT, CITY and CONSULTANT agree as follows:
1. CONSULTANT shall perform those services set forth in Exhibit A attached to
this Amendment to Agreement.
2. The total sum to be expended under this First Amendment to Agreement shall not
exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) during the term of this Agreement.
3. Section 3. TERM, of the Agreement shall be amended to read as follows:
This Agreement shall commence on July 1, 2001 and terminate on June 30, 2002,
unless terminated earlier in accordance with Section 12, below. The term of this
Agreement may be extended upon a writing executed by the Executive Director of
the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency and the City Attorney.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, CITY and CONSULTANT have executed this FIRST
AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT on the day and year first set forth above.

EXHIBIT A
CONSULTANT shall provide dance instruction within a comprehensive arts education
program for children in grades 1-8 at Leaming and Literacy Centers or After School Arts
Centers in Santa Ana.
· CONSULTANT will develop and implement a comprehensive dance instruction
program for children in grades 1 through 8. The program will be offered
Monday-Friday between the hours of2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Each class will
provide three (3) hours of instruction.
· CONSULT ANT will prepare a lesson plan for each class and have a strong
knowledge of the dance curriculum prior to each class.
· CONSULTANT will work with the Arts Administrator to select a variety of
dance techniques which will be taught to the students to achieve a highly
competent performance by the students.
· CONSULTANT will supervise all student activity and provide a safe environment
for those enrolled in the program.
· CONSULTANT will promote the arts program to the site's population and
maintain maximum enrollment.
· CONSULTANT will direct a performance each quarter before an audience of
students, parents and the community.
COMPENSATION
Total compensation hereunder, for all hours worked and contract-related expenses, shall
not exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). The hourly rate of compensation shall
be $30.00 per hour. Consultant shall be entitled to reimbursement of contract related
expenses, for materials and supplies not available from City's art supplier, up to
$2,000.00. Consultant shall submit a detailed invoice for all hours worked and contract
related expenses.
