RECOMMENDED ACTION
Renew the contract with Armorcast Products Company for the purchase of
polymer meter boxes and lids for a one-year period in an annual amount not
to exceed $38,000.
DISCUSSION
The Finance and Management Services Agency's Central Stores section stocks
and distributes meter and valve boxes for use by the Public works Agency's
Water Resources Division. The boxes are used to house, protect, and
provide access to water meters and valves within the City's water system.
The contract for polymer meter boxes is designed to provide quality
products at significant savings based on quantity pricing.
On May 3, 2004, the City Council awarded a contract to Armorcast Products
Company for a two-year period, with provision for three one-year renewals.
The vendor has agreed to renew the contract; however, the vendor has
requested a 20 percent increase due to the rising costs of raw materials.
The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period,
and staff recommends the first renewal of the contract.
