PUBLIC COMMENTS Margaret Farris requested help from the Council in expediting her request to the Housing Authority for low-income housing assistance. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 284 OCTOBER 2, 1995 90.B CITY COUNCIL COIVlMENTS Councilmember Espinoza requested a status report on the Bristol Street Widening project and thanked the Police Department for an effective effort against cruising on Bristol Street. In response to Espinoza's query regarding homicides in the City, the Police Chief suggested he and Councilmember Espinoza meet to discuss the individual cases. Councilmember Lutz requested the Public Works Agency and Police Department look into measures to prevent illegal right-hand turns from the Interstate 5 (1-5) off-ramp to Edgewood Street. Mayor Pro Tem Richardson: - requested the opening of the Templo Calvario Small Wonders Child Care center for children ages 2-5 be communicated to sta~ - asked staff to investigate measures to enhance traffic flow on Santa Ana Boulevard during the construction of the I-5/Penn Way ramps; and - complimented City staff for their contributions to making the recent visit of U.S. President Bill Clinton to the Santa Ana Boys and Girls Club run smoothly. Councilmember McGuigan requested staff investigate Pacific Bell's program to offer cities "on- ramps" (connections) to the lnternet (information super highway). She commented that members of the Santa Ana Boys and Girls Club had an opportunity during the recent Clinton visit to observe the "Western White House" in action. Councilmember Moreno requested a status report on the impacts of the Orange County bankruptcy on the City and suggested the Council consider establishing a citizen advisory board to oversee the City's finances. The Mayor requested the City Manager poll the Council regarding the setting of study session to discuss Councilmember Moreno's suggestion. Mayor Pulido requested Taco Bell and the Discovery Science Center be invited to make Council presentations regarding their programs for youth. Mayor Pulido complimented Council Services Senior Management Assistant Jill Arthur for her outstanding efforts in coordinating the President's visit to Santa Ana.
