RECOMMENDED ACTION
Renew the contract with Bound Tree Medical for the purchase of paramedic
supplies for a one-year period in the annual amount not to exceed $217,288.
DISCUSSION
The Fire Department's Paramedic Division provides emergency paramedic
services wi thin the City of Santa Ana. Paramedic suppl ies are purchased
for such services, and patients are billed when services are rendered. The
Police Department Jail Facility also orders supplies such as latex gloves
for use during daily operations.
On December 2, 2002, the City Council awarded a contract to Bound Tree
Medical for a three-year period with provision for two, one-year renewals.
The vendor has agreed to renew the contract i however, the vendor has
requested a nine percent increase in pricing due to manufacturer price
increases. Staff verified that this increase is consistent with the
market. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract
period and staff recommends the final renewal of the contract.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the Fire Emergency Medical Services and Police
Detention Services Operating Materials & Supplies accounts (account nos.
11-323-6391 and 11-349-6391) .
