RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and
the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with
Dekra-Lite in an amount not to exceed $22,000 for lighting at The Depot.
DISCUSSION
The Depot at Santa Ana is a regional transportation hub, combining
Amtrak, MetroLink, Orange County Transit Authority and other bus
services with office space for various State, County, and City
departments. Patronage at the facility has escalated in recent years to
over one million persons serviced annually.
Staff is implementing a marketing and facility improvement plan for The
Depot to help promote the City and the facility to the varied customers
visi ting on a daily basis. One component of the plan is to install up
lights on the palm trees in the courtyard and twinkle lights on the
ornamental rod iron archway that the customers walk through when
entering The Depot from the train. The City currently has a contract
with Dekra-Lite in the amount of $8,900 to install the holiday
decorations in the Downtown. The additional cost to install the
lighting at The Depot is $13,100, which would bring the total contract
amount to $22,000.
Based on the quality and performance of past projects, Dekra-Lite is
recommended to perform this work at The Depot.
