Reject the bid from Wolverine Environmental, Inc., as nonresponsive to the specification. 2. Award a contract to Castlerock Environmental, Inc., for mold remediation at six Fire Stations in the amount not to exceed $117,062. DISCUSSION The Building Maintenance Division of the Finance & Management Services Agency is responsible for maintenance and repair of the City's ten fire stations. Visual inspections of the stations revealed water damage due to roof and shower leaks at stations 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9. Subsequently, repairs were performed on the roofs and showers of the identified stations, which range in age between 17 to 56 years. When water damage has occurred in a City facility, the City routinely contracts for an industrial hygiene inspection. The inspection of the identified stations found fungal growth (mold) and included recommendations for remediation. This contract will provide for the removal of the existing mold, including any additional mold discovered during the remediation process. Wolverine Environmental, Inc., does not hold a valid California contractor's license for hazardous substance removal and is therefore considered nonresponsive. The bid received from Castlerock Environmental, Inc., is responsive to the specification and meets the City's requirements. To allow for the removal of concealed mold, a ten percent contingency has been included in the award amount. FISCAL IMPACT Funds are available in the Fire Maintenance Building Improvement account (account no. 11-327-6621). APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: .O\-\~~~ )>.
