N0. 07-065) CI Y MAN GER RECOMMENDED ACTION CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: APPROVED ^ As Recommended ^ As Amended ^ Ordinance on 151 Reading ^ Ordinance on Intl Reading ^ Implementing Resolution ^ Set Public Hearing For CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER Award a contract to Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc., for the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus, parts and accessories in the amount of $85,595; and an additional $15,000 for an annual blanket contract. DISCUSSION Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) provides fire suppression personnel with proper protection and the ability to operate effectively during emergency situations. The recommended action allows the Fire Department to purchase an additional 16 SCBA units, increasing their current inventory of 121 units to 137. Additionally, miscellaneous parts and accessories are required to constantly maintain the units and provide individual mask fit testing. The notice inviting solicited. The results are as 22E-1 Contract Award for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus August 6, 2007 Page 2 The bid received from Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc., is responsive to the specifications and meets the City's requirements. Allstar Fire Equipment, Inc., provides for the purchase of miscellaneous supplies for the Fire Department. The purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus, parts & accessories, when combined with anticipated purchases during the current fiscal year, exceeds the $25,000 aggregate limit. In order to facilitate future purchases, staff recommends an increase to the aggregate limit. FISCAL IMPACT Funds are available in the Fire Department's 2006 Metropolitan Medical Response System Grant for the purchase (no. 146-334-6391, $85,595); and the Fire Department's Maintenance Section's account for the miscellaneous parts and accessories (no. 11-327-6391, $15,000).
