DISCUSSION
The City of Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency was
successful in receiving a $150,000 Institute of Museum and Library
Services grant for the creation and implementation of a master graphics
plan at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park. The Master Graphics Plan will
coordinate information, convey the Zoo's conservation message, and present
a consistent image to effectively facilitate education and animal and
plant recognition. A portion of the grant funding will be used to
contract a professional design group to evaluate and submit a complete
report with recommendations and blueprints for bilingual interpretive
signage throughout the Zoo. The remaining funds will be used for the
fabrication and installation of the signage and interpretive panels.
Hunt Design is a graphic design consulting firm established in 1977 that
specializes in identity signage and environmental graphics programs for
public spaces, theme parks, entertainment centers and multi-use
developments. The City has contracted with Hunt Design in the past to
complete high profile projects throughout the City, including the design
of the primary logo for the Santa Ana Zoo, the creation of interpretive
