RECOMMENDED ACTION
Award a contract to Tree Elements, Inc., for Class I fine pruning of trees
at the Civic Center complex in the amount of $30,980.
DISCUSSION
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency maintains 1,053 trees
in the Civic Center. The maintenance program, designed to keep the trees
healthy, includes a Class 1 fine pruning of half the trees each year. A
Certified Arborist supervises all pruning.
The notice inviting bids was advertised on December 6, 2007, and bids were
solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as
follows:

9 Bids received
1 Bid received from a Santa Ana vendor
Bids were received, opened on January 16, 2008, and evaluated (Exhibit 1).
The bid received from Tree Elements, Inc., is responsive to the
specification and meets the City's requirements.
