For the purpose of determining the approximate contribution, benefits to
be granted on aooount of Prior Servioe of City Firemen and City Polioemen, shall be
assumed to be on the same soale as Prior Service benefits are now provided under
the Retirement ~ystem for members of the State Highway Patrol. Benefits to be
granted on account of Prior Service of employees other than City Firemen and City
Polioemen, shall be assumed to be on the same scale as such benefits are now pro-
vided for State Employees other than members of the Highway Patrol. It is under-
stood, however, that said Prior Service benefits finally may be provided at a
fraction of suoh scalos, respeotively, in acoordance with Section 830 of the
Retirement Act.
This request is made in accordance with Section 58b of the State Employees'
Retirement Aot, and is subject to the provisions of that Act. It is understood
particularly that the definitive contribution which will be required of the
subdivision, may differ from the approximate oontribution now requested to be
quoted, and that the cost of determining the approximate contribution will not
include the cost of determining the definitive contribution, although many of the
calculations made in the former determination, may be incorporated in the latter.

The Retirement Act fixes the minimum ase at ,.'hich voluntary service 1'0-

The volunta.ry service retirement age for City Firemen and City Po Hcemen; hoV'rever,
ma.y be any age from 55 to 60 years, both inclusive. Designation in F 109 of a
minimum age, or ages. if a valuation under morc than one age io desired, is for
valuation purposes only. The contribution rr>'ich '[rill be r0qnired of the subcli-
vision depends directly on the minimuIIl aL;e at which VoluIl.tary service retirement
is penrri tted. The minimum aGe finally selected in the lie;ht of the valuation
results vdll '00 fixed in the contract betvieen th6 subdivision and the Board of Ad-
ministration.
