Regular Meeting Agenda 03/28/07 03/23/07 8:30 A.M. *** END OF CONSENT CALENDAR *** PRESENTATIONS Latino Education Attainment (LEA) - Evelyn Solorio, KidWorks Evelyn Solorio, AdultWorks Coordinator of the Adult Program, currently working at Lighthouse Learning Center out of Zone 4 presented the LEA Program and covered bilingual materials currently being used in the program; Ms. Solorio expressed that the goal is to reach all 4 zones by creating parent awareness, noting 19 students graduated in the last graduating class BUSINESS CALENDAR 4. CONTRACT AMENDMENT - DEZTECH CONSULTING, LLC Motion: Direct Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director to execute an amendment to the agreement with Deztech Consulting, LLC to increase the contract by $100 in an amount not to exceed $1,300 for website hosting and website management services. SANTA ANA WORK CENTER DAISY WHEEL SERVICE NAVIGATOR PROGRAM CONTRACT AMENDMENT Motion: Recommend that the Santa Ana Empowerment Corporation Board direct Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director to execute a fifth amendment to the agreement with the Santa Ana WORK Center regarding its Daisy Wheel Service Navigator Program to provide that the enrollment number of 800 new Federal Empowerment Zone residents be comprised of youth and/or adults and remove the specific limitations for youth and adult enrollment numbers, respectively. Director Sidler recommended and motioned to allocate $250,000.00 for 100 Santa Ana Federal Empowerment Zone youth Chair Bloom-Ramos recommended establishing an Ad Hoc Committee (consisting of Directors Reyna, Alvarez, and Sidler) to assist Director Ream with community and business partnerships for additional funding Amended Motion: 1. Allocate $250,000 of Empowerment Zone funds for a 2007 Youth Workforce Development Program 2. Direct Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director to execute an agreement with the City of Santa Ana WORK Center to serve 100 Santa Ana Federal Empowerment Zone Youth.
