DISCUSSION Several departments use temporary fencing to ensure public safety and reduce liability around City-owned properties scheduled for construction or demolition. Fencing is installed within 24 hours, when necessary, to provide immediate public safety. Fencing is typically rented for either a six-month or a one-year period. On June 7, 2004, the City Council awarded a contract to S&S Rent-A-Fence for a two-year period with provision for three one-year renewals. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing. Staff recommends the final renewal of the contract.
