NO. 07-064) APPROVED D As Recommended D As Amended D Ordinance on 151 Reading D Ordinance on 2nd Reading D Implementing Resolution D Set Public Hearing For C1 ~ CITY MANAGER CONTINUED TO ----- FILE NUMBER RECOMMENDED ACTION Renew the contract with Zumar Industries, Inc., for traffic signs and related hardware for a one-year period in an annual amount not to exceed $93,225. DISCUSSION The Public Works Agency (PWA) maintains a wide array of traffic and street name signs throughout the City. In Fiscal Years 2006-2007 and 2007-2008, 2,750 signs were replaced or repaired, requiring the installation of various sized posts and mounting hardware. The materials necessary for ongoing sign maintenance operations are purchased through the Central Stores warehouse for distribution to the PWA. On August 6, 2007, the City Council awarded a contract to Zumar Industries, Inc., for a one-year period with provision for three, one-year renewals. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in pricing. Staff recommends the first renewal of the contract. FISCAL IMPACT Funds are available in the Stores Inventory account (no. 75-01-1131) and will be recovered by charging back to the Public Works operating budgets. ~ James G.
