$104,679 for construction of the Kiwanis Basketball Court at Carl
Thornton Park.
2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated construction cost
of $146,500.
DISCUSSION
This project is a continuation of the construction of the Kiwanis
Barrier-Free Playground at Carl Thornton Park (Exhibit 1). The project
provides for construction of a basketball court and installation of a
park monument sign.
The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on June 20 and 23, 2008, and bids
were opened on July 9, 2008. A summary of the bid invitations mailed,
the bids received, and the bid results follows.

A total of two bids were received and both were responsive. The lowest
bid was submitted by Hardy & Harper, Inc. for $104,679, which is below
the Engineer's estimate of $120,000.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Environmental Review No. 2008-123 has been completed and the Categorical
Exemption will be filed upon award of contract Pursuant to the California
Environmental Quality Act.
FISCAL IMPACT
The funding analysis shows a total estimated construction cost of
$146,500 for the proj ect (Exhibit 2). Funds are available ln the
Recreation Special Fees and Donations account (account no. 22-231-6631)
and the Prop. 12 Roberti Z'Berg-Harris Grant fund (account no. 161-270-
6631) .
